Net-a-Porter new season now

Chloe Moretz modelling new season trends in Porter magazine

This is that funny time of year when it’s blazing hot but the mags are full of new season ad campaigns. And coats. Porter mag is tempting me with come-hither boots and poet’s blouses and Net-a-Porter is bursting its proverbial seams with cashmere overload.

So it’s a good time to think ahead. Alongside the utility-luxe basics that I tend to go for, there’s a lot more romance and whimsy around. Chloe’s blouse has the loveliest trailing scarf (escalators, tubes and taxi doors to be avoided), Balenciaga’s rollneck has a just-subversive-enough asymmetric hem, and this bra by Skin is a new discovery for me – I like the combo of practicality and subtle decoration. Meanwhile, Smythson’s new diaries are just the thing to get you in a new season organisational state of mind. I have the Mara diary for 2016 and it’s been brilliant for planning the months to come.

For a touch of decorative drama, it’s all about the knits and accessories. Gucci’s knits are obviously the winners here, but the sparkly shoes from Charlotte Olympia are equally delightful (to wear with normcore 501s and socks always!). Christopher Kane’s brooch is a great entry-point accessory; I would use it to camp up my beloved Whistles utility jacket. Are Gucci’s furry slippers passe yet? I’m thinking the dreamy velvet version would be perfect as house slippers with chunky cashmere socks. Only problem is, I would then never leave the house…
