Night at the museum

If you haven’t seen the Postmodernism exhibition at the V&A yet, may I politely suggest you get a wiggle on as it ends in two weeks. I recommend that you go on a Friday evening when the V&A is open ’til 10pm. I went yesterday with Hips Like Boys at 6pm and we practically had the place to ourselves.

We agreed that while we loved all the exhibits (the design of the exhibition is excellent, we were there for two hours), there could have been a more focussed definition of ‘postmodernism’. That said, I think the book is certainly worth buying for further reading.

I wore my new-old Alessandro Mendini Swatch and discovered it perfectly matched the Mendini ‘Proust’ chair in the exhibition…

My other favourite piece was the Michael Graves Mickey Mouse kettle based on his famous Whistling Bird kettle

(Alas, no photos were allowed in the exhibition, otherwise, I would quite possibly have spent yet another hour in there.)

Postmodernism: Style and Subversion 1970-1990 is on at the V&A until 15th January. Open 10am-5.45pm daily; 10am-10pm Fridays.
