New in for spring

Yes, I’m still wearing tights under my jeans. Yes I’m still bundled under a suuuuuper-sized cashmere stole (thanks Johnstons of Elgin). Yes, my fingers are still encased in The North Face extreme weather gloves. But! Blossom has been spotted on the trees of West London and it’s still daylight at 5.30pm. So that surely necessitates an evaluation of the new-in spring offerings, no?

On my radar at this time of year are shouty knits for layering, such as this colourful crew neck from Jil Sander or the crafty applique number by Christopher Kane. Miu Miu is always good for getting you in the mood for something a bit jollier with its zany prints; this cardigan would instantly liven up your trusty black polo, accessorised with the candy-pink circular bag.

Shoe-wise, it’s all about flats or a mid-heel with a contrasting sock. I would definitely add these neutral socks to Dorateymur’s mirror leather slip-ons and some loud boy-cut pants. Or for go-faster flats, it seems everyone is dead set on a pair of colourful Gucci loafers. Look below… can you blame them?

For the finishing touches, a Penmayne trilby will keep the chill out, and Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse Le Rouge lipstick is just the thing to add a kick of colour to a bare-but-dewy face. And don’t miss the first offerings from Roksanda’s debut jewellery line…
