Nail news: New Essie colours, tastemaker nails by Killer Colours, Sophy Robson’s InStyle column, Chanel’s vending machines, NYFW nail mania

ESSIE’S NEW COLOURS
Essie’s Fall 2012 collection is about to drop on BeautyBay.com. My favourite shade is this bewitching bottle green called Stylenomics, which will look gorgeous against any shade of pink. The cube of four minis will retail at £11.95 and the single bottles £8.50

TREND FORECASTING NAILS
The new SS13 nail colours are coming in thick and fast from New York Fashion Week, being tweeted,  Tumbled, Instagrammed and blogged faster than you can say ‘information overload’. But what to do? The public wants the trends and they want them as they happen. In response to this comes a new nail colour concept,  Killer Colours. Created with the help of fashion insiders and trend forecasters, it’s a similar concept to fast fashion – once these limited edition colours go, you’ll never see them again. I tried Twisted Silk, a chalky pink the exact hue of a Jil Sander AW12 coat, and Quicksand, a milky nude, but there are also shades that mimic Chanel’s electric blue crystal eyebrow, Christopher Kane’s wine nails and the pewter grey seen at Burberry and Alexander McQueen. They cost £9 each (P&P included) from Killercolours.com.

SOPHY ROBSON’S INSTYLE COLUMN
The unstoppable Sophy Robson now has her own column in Instyle. And quite right too. I love the passion and drive of this girl and I would love to see the column go deeper into Sophy’s world than just nail art. I happen to know she also has amazing taste in art, music and accessories…

CHANEL’S NAIL POLISH VENDING MACHINES
Thursday finally saw Chanel’s beauty vending machines in action. Launched for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out, the machines dispensed new limited edition nail colours, with corresponding Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks in ‘Twinset’ duos. When I passed the Covent Garden pop-up at six oclock on the dot, the queue was already ten deep. The Twinsets Les Chanel are now on sale at Harrods, Selfridges Manchester Exchange, House of Fraser Glasgow, John Lewis W1 and Fenwick Newcastle. Lipsticks are £25 and nail polishes are £18.

As mentioned earlier, the social sharing of NYFW has gone totally mental, with every one of my social streams flooded with behind-the-scenes images and insider info. Here are a few nail snippets from Tumblr. First, white nails from Band of Outsiders:
