Introducing my big, fat, anti-fashion book

The New Garconne - How To Be a Modern Gentlewoman

I have some exciting news that I’m finally able to share with you! I’ve spent the last two years working on a personal project that has been as fulfilling as it’s been challenging. Somehow I’ve managed not to breathe a word to anyone online, but later this month it will be unveiled to the world.

OK, it’s not big or fat or even anti-fashion, but I have written and creative directed a book! *Pauses at the enormity of that last sentence.* The New Garconne – How to be a Modern Gentlewoman is being published at the end of September (in the UK, everywhere else it’s about a month later) and in short, it’s an exploration of today’s creative, entrepreneurial woman who appreciates aesthetics, craftsmanship, quality, history and culture.

I have had a brilliant time interviewing some incredibly inspiring women, not just about style and taste (although there’s plenty of that), but also about how they run their businesses and manage their lives in a thoughtful and collaborative way.

At the core of ‘The New Garconne’ is a style that’s bound in dualities; old meets new, luxury meets utility, masculine meets feminine. If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you’ll notice my style projected throughout the book, well, the more polished, gentlewomanly elements anyway. I think you’ll love the women I’ve chose to interview and the nosy visual snapshots into their lives and style.

You can pre-order the book on Amazon here and here, but keep an eye out on the blog (have you signed up for my weekly email digest? Dude do it now!) and social media.

This post is mostly a teaser, there’s a lot more to come… (UPDATE: It’s launched! You can find it at Urban Outfitters, WHSmith, Foyles and Waterstones – plus many more.)
