Did I mention my love of outlet shopping? Not just any old outlet but one with a good mix of the classic brands that I wear on a regular basis. Like, you know, Gap,Lacoste, Joseph, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren… And oh look, here they all are at Cheshire Oaks! AKA one of the vast McArthurGlen designer outlets and one I’ve never been to – until now.
McArthurGlen invited me up one sunny Saturday to discover the outlet and work on a video edit of my seasonal fashion picks. Clearly, I did not need to be asked twice. McArthurGlen is the originator of European outlet shopping as we know it, introducing its first outlet in 1995. (That Prada outlet near Florence you’ve heard about? It’s McArthurGlen’s Barberino Designer Outlet, worth a trip in itself I’d imagine…) Cheshire Oaks, near Chester, is bigger than the outlets I’m used to, with the brand mix a happy union of high end labels, high street names and sportswear favourites. It’s also very family-friendly with numerous eateries and kids activity areas for rest and play.
Where to start with my edit? I’m a creature of habit so I zoomed straight in on the classic hero pieces, although I made sure to add in this season’s colours and prints. With my £300 budget I gravitated towards the high end stores I like, as well as some fashion-centric sportswear, currently enjoying a major fashion moment. Michael Kors and Mulberry were jam packed of course, and the Nike outlet was doing extremely healthy business (as was the Lindt chocolate store, well it was the weekend before Easter).
To get a detailed breakdown of my picks (hello Lacoste chequerboard cycling jacket reduced to £33…), do watch the video and if you love what you see – trust me, you will – you can win the lot. Click on this link or follow McArthurGlen on Twitter to find out how.
