Meet Mallet & Co handbags

Mallet & Co handbags by Nicholas Knightly

I completely missed the memo that Nicholas Knightly had resurfaced with his own spanking new label. Mallet & Co. is the new line of extremely lush yet understated handbags from the man who was previously Louis Vuitton’s design director of leathergoods. Before that, he quietly toiled behind the scenes at Mulberry (he created the Bayswater), and back in the mists of time, he was a hot name on the London Fashion Week circuit.

The new Mallet & Co handbags come in simple, semi-structured shapes and are free of unnecessary detail – aka just the kind I like for workaday toting. They come in neutral tones of taupe, black and the palest blue pebbled calf leather, offset with a daintly gold padlock. My favourite is the short but capacious Zeus – find them on Net-a-Porter here (prices from £800).

UPDATE: The Mallet & Co website is now live.
