Louis Vuitton’s futuristic boom box

Louis Vuitton boom box

What I didn’t love about the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2017 show: the models’ terrible, slouchy walks, the fugly flipflop-trainer hybrid shoes, the OTT logos. What I loved: the fantastic location with its red concrete ramp (the lead-up to the futuristic Niterói Contemporary Art Museum designed by Oscar Niemeyer), the graphic colour placements, the epic Louis Vuitton ‘boom box’.

We’ve seen the boom box imagined as a fashion item loads of times, that’s nothing new. And actually, Vuitton has a history of producing music-related accessories (remember the Helmut Lang-designed record box?) that tap into current mind sets – usually in its classic monogram. What I like about this one is its off-beat colour palette and its construction from mini Vuitton trunks. It probably doesn’t play music, but it totally looks the part.
