LFW: Disneyrollergirl X The Shopbop Apartment

More LFW extra-curricular activity came in the guise of the Shopbop Apartment in one of three spanking new-build apartment blocks next to the Tate Modern. In case you missed it, etailer Shopbop.com just unveiled its slick new site (with this v jolly video featuring cameos from New York’s funnest fashion luvvies) which now has bigger images, a redesigned mobile site, better sharing options and lots more editorial. To celebrate (and flag up Shopbop to the UK market), it came up with the concept of a Manhattan-style loft party in two adjoining penthouse apartments at Neo Bankside. It chose a mix of fashion personalities – me, Susie Bubble, Sara Brajovic and Liberty London Girl – to style our own room however we liked, using Shopbop product and props from the apartment.

For my room, I loved the idea of a rough-luxe safari camp look with leather sling chairs, sludge-hued army blankets, lots of red cashmere and raw denim and a lived-in, slightly-rough-around-the-edges feel. Yes I did get a bit carried away with my moodboards. But the apartment was more luxe than rough with its expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and plush carpets that I went with the flow and cleaned up my ideas a bit.

Clothing-wise I pounced on the Philip Lims, See By Chloes and Yigal Azrouels (I was quite taken with this CUT25 by Yigal Azrouel bomber), with some bits of Tibi and Porter Grey to amp up the colour quotient. (“I wouldn’t say these are very Disneyrollergirl” was a phrase uttered a few times by Michael Duck later on, holding aloft an Ash tricolor wedge trainer. Agreed, but I doubt an all-navy ensemble would have had much appeal…)

After setting up ahead of time and marvelling at how different and spot-on each Shopbop girl’s space had turned out to be (Sasha’s full of high heels and long-sleeved shifts, Susie’s full of print, print and more print…), I shoehorned in a couple of shows and returned for the main event. Cue Alice Dellal, Valentine Fillol-Cordier and Tennessee Thomas on DJ duties, plus free flowing prosecco and cocktails to facilitate the 17th floor giddiness. Add in the nighttime skyline and London’s fabulous fashion set and the ultimate penthouse party fantasy was wholly achieved…
