Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo ten-second lipsticks – plus new, longer-lasting nail colours

Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo lipstick - a hybrid of lipstick, balm and gloss.

Just when I thought Chanel’s moisturising lippies couldn’t get any better, they do this. Enter Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo (£26), a chic little black bullet that offers colour, shine and lip care all in one lipstick. These are the slimmest, sexiest lipsticks around, and of course the cap closes with an expensive click. But how do they perform?

Well they’re super soft and creamy so a little goes a long way. I’ve been wearing Article (204, all the names are writing-related), a sweet pinky-coral with just enough shine to add radiance without being full-on glossy. When the colour fades (which it will), you’re left with a comfortable moisturised stain. Where these excel is in the quick, slick application. For glamour, nothing beats a classic, slightly chubby lipstick like Rouge Coco Shine, but for on the go convenience, these are total winners. You don’t need much; one pass is enough and you don’t have to twist up too much, because these are quite fragile.

Pictured above from my samples are Script (218, a 90s caramel Kardashian-esque nude), and Conte (a delicate pale pink). I also have Recit, which is a deep purple and Roman, a darker fuchsia pink. The shades are so good, as Chanel’s generally are; even the boldest shades are wearable classics.

To match the lipsticks, I’ve been testing the newly formulated Chanel Le Vernis nail colours (£18). These have a new ceramide-enriched formulation (for better nail care) and deliver a more even finish. There’s also a new gel top coat (Le Gel Coat longwear top coat, £18) to add extreme shine and a 6-day hold minus the UV lamp. I rarely have a problem with Chanel polishes but if you find they chip easily then this might be the remedy.

There are 15 new shades, plus four reformulated cult shades – Pirate (08, everyone’s favourite red), Ballerina (167, a classic pale pink), Rouge Noir (18, needs no explanation) and Particulière (505, the cult nude). From the 15 new shades, I’ve got Shantung (508 a deep raspberry red), Garçonne (520, grey with a hint of green) and Organdi (504, my current obsession – a milky nude) pictured above and below.
