What to buy from Chanel Les Beiges and Chanel Cruise beauty 2017

Chanel beauty Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow palette

Summer is easily my favourite beauty season. Give me a ‘bonne mine’ bronzer, a shell-coloured nail polish and a blush-tinted lippie and I’m sorted. The Chanel Les Beiges range is now in its fourth year and has added its first all-you-need eye shadow palette to the range of holiday-ready bronzers and blush sticks. If you’re the only girl left on the planet who doesn’t own a neutral eye palette, then Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette is the one to get, it’s super-compact and practical with all the shades you need for a naturally groomed eye.

This year’s version of the classic Les Beiges bronzer is slightly iridescent and has raised sea shell-like ridges to help pick up more product on the brush. (For best results use a kabuki brush, not the pretty but diddy little thing supplied).

Another addition to Les Beiges is a gel cushion foundation, or Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation SPF 25 if you want its full title. This came out three weeks ago and is a water based, natural coverage foundation, infused with hyaluronic acid to give lightweight but hydrating coverage. I haven’t tried any cushion foundations yet and I do think this is pricy (£43 for 15g) for what you get. But for a portable, travel-friendly option, it’s a pretty good solution.

The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Sticks are great. I love a cream blush and the stick is easier to work with than a pot. There are two new sticks to the range – 23 and 24 – that (like the Les Beiges bronzer) have more iridescence than previous versions. I have  23, a warm peachy-pink. I really like this for imparting the natural but all-elusive glow that is sadly absent from British summers.

To complete the Chanel summer offer, this week sees the release of the Chanel 2017 Cruise collection. Again, for me it’s all about these energising juicy peach-hued nail colours. They’re pretty bold, so if you don’t fancy the edgy greeny-grey tinged nail (Sargasso, 558) then try Coralium (562), a very bright coral for toes, or Coquillage (560), a chalky peach that looks very cool with olive skin tones (you’ll need two coats). The accompanying lip shades are lovely warm neutrals with undertones of sepia and sunny seashell pink. As Chanel’s Global Make-up and Colour Designer Lucia Pica says, ‘the concept is, there is no concept’. Instead it’s all about easy, wearable, natural textures with a bit of shine.

Finally, If you’re the girl who won’t go to the beach without her waterproof eyeliner, Chanel has got you covered. I love this aubergine soft smudgy eye pencil, Terra Rosa (847, below) and the other one, Horizon (837), a sultry green-black (not shown). These will all get snapped up sooner rather later so consider yourself warned. The Cruise collection lands on Friday in the UK but is out now in the U.S.

TLDR: Chanel has introduced new products for its Les Beiges line and its new Cruise collection. The blush sticks, new Les Beiges bronzer, coral nail shades and inky eyeliners are my standouts.
