Boom! Suddenly the era of Versace’s lip-syncing supermodels seems rather quaint.

Today marks the eighth anniversary of this site. (Eighth? What the…?) I’m often asked where the name ‘Disneyrollergirl’ came from and I don’t really have a clever answer. It’s a combo of my love for Californian rollerskating imagery, retro Mickey Mouse paraphernalia and the Beach Boys tune, Disney Girls.

Fashion shows may get all the Fashion Week media love but there’s a whole other side that people don’t see. They’re the less glamorous workhorses of the fashion calendar; the showrooms, re-sees and trade shows. While the menswear shows took all the Paris glory last month, I spent three days in a parallel universe with the team from Who’s Next and Premiere Classe, getting an insider’s look at the biannual trade show, with a few added leisure activities thrown in. 1. HELLO TRADEMARK
I’m keeping my eye on Trademark this year, a brand I only discovered a few weeks ago at their London press day. Shapes are simple, and a tiny bit preppie (well, there are sweatshirts) but it’s the overall presentation as ‘a brand’ that I like – focussed, clean and graphic. (more…)
