Darling, it’s Lacroix!

Despite my minimalist leanings I can’t deny we’re heading for a maximalist revival. Vintage Versace’s all the rage, Prada’s ‘pop baroque’ curlicues are all over the shop and the return of Ab Fab means ‘darling, it’s Lacroix’ can once again be an acceptable exclamation.

I loved Lacroix back in my student days, as much for his inspirational sketchbooks as his breathtaking couture. Two books that I never tire of are Pieces of a Pattern and The Diary of a Collection, both brimming with magical sketches, Polaroids and insights into Lacroix’s processes.

Since leaving his label, the Arles couturier has been busy creating stationery, a fairytale memoir, and working with Spanish brand, Desigual. This month, the Desigual by Lacroix capsule collection launches, bringing Lacroix’s trademark pattern clashes and feminine silhouettes to a wider audience. Get a load of those hats!
