Did I mention I have this thing for sensible knitwear? I’m very particular – I like crew necks and V necks in a traditional cut with minimal details. I don’t like it when the ribbing is too narrow or the waistband too deep. And I like classic colours – red, burgundy, camel, navy, grey.
Unbelievably, it’s really hard to find such knitwear for women these days. Men’s departments have a much better selection, but of course the fits are then too generous (although sometimes I do like a boyfriend knit). I think that might be part of the reason why Buffy Reid set up & Daughter, the two-year-old wool and cashmere line that’s made in Scotland and Ireland and specialises in exactly the sort of knits I’m talking about, at a not-bad-at-all price point.
