If you’re a Tory Burch fan, you’ll want to mark January 20th on your iCal. Joining Aerin and Michael Kors, it’s the latest cosmetics (and fragrance line) to arrive in the UK from the Estee Lauder beauty stable.
As with Aerin, Kors and even Tom Ford, it’s all about the angular packaging with golden accents. (Does Estee Lauder only have one lipstick mould?) The Mr Porter international sale went live today – at last! The US sale started a few days ago but I’ve had a look and there are still some crumbs left for the rest of us.
As usual, I’ve hunted out the pieces that I think work for both guys and girls, so here’s my edit of what we can steal. Personally, I’m all about the Raf Simons knit and the LVC pocket tee. A classic cotton pocket tee is stupidly hard to come by these days so I stockpile these when I see them…
I’m not a fan of sale shopping for the sake of it. I prefer to shop with a purpose so my sale strategy tends to be around useful pieces or one-of-a-kind things you’ll never see again.
Of the sale buys I’ve spotted already, the distinctive Miu Miu coat is only worth buying if you absolutely adore those spots (as I do) because it’s such a season-specific piece. But it’s a great standby for weddings etc and will look as good worn casually unfastened as primly zipped.
The Carven jacket is a good price for the quality and versatility (the faux fur collar comes off so you’ll still be wearing this come spring. Plus click on the picture and you can get another 10% off when you use the code XMAS10). And although the Dolce & Gabbana jewelled heels are still quite pricy, they’re worth it to me as it’s rare to find walkable evening heels that are such a dramatic talking point.
I absolutely adore this selfie Christmas card sent to me by the team at Jo Malone London. When this photo was taken back in the summer at their Christmas preview, I had no idea it would pop into my inbox several months later as a GIF. But here’s me and Santa swathed in matching blue outfits (completely coincidentally I might add), surrounded by Jo Malone’s jumbo baubles, bows and splendid cream boxes.
This just leaves me to wish a Merry Christmas to all Disneyrollergirl readers, partners and blog buddies. It’s been an amazing year and I can’t wait to see what 2014 brings us!
Marc Jacobs rallied a few of his favourite muses to model for the campaign, chiming with the prevailing trend of the last few seasons for an all-ages approach to fashion (Edie Campbell, Catherine Deneuve and Fan Bingbing also feature).
Sofia Coppola rarely lends her face to ad campaigns and I so admire her for this. Instead she works with designers who she is genuinely friends with, hence those Marc Jacobs fragrance campaigns we all love, and this slightly goth-y Vuitton one.
Great to see lovely Neelam Johal representin’ the brown girls in the new SS14 Burberry campaign.
You’ll remember that the Burberry show was Neelam’s first ever catwalk show and spotting her on the runway was one of my highlights of LFW. Along with a load of up and coming music and acting talent, Models 1’s Neelam is seen giving great trench coat on a squishy velour couch in Chris Bailey’s front room and grinning from ear to ear as every new young Burberry face should. Talk about living the dream…

The fashionisation of beauty is rolling along at a jolly pace isn’t it? Following both Chanel and Dior with their standalone luxury beauty stores comes Burberry and its all-singing-all-dancing Beauty Box. The store opened yesterday in Covent Garden’s King Street selling make-up, perfume and accessories.
From the entry-level nail polishes and perfumes plus associated sunnies, scarves and bags, it’s but a short jump to the coveted trench or coat. And thus (the mega-brands hope) a loyal customer for life.
Naturally, a Burberry store isn’t a Burberry store without some digital wizardry at play. So if you haven’t time for a mini mani, try the Digital Runway Nail Bar instead. This ‘playful virtual experience’ lets you try the latest Burberry runway shades by placing the polish onto a radio-frequency identification-enabled platform to match your skin tone to the required colour.
OK, I’m not actually sure what a radio-frequency identification-enabled platform is but it sounds sufficiently snazzy enough for me to seek it out next time I’m in WC2…
