Fashion and tech: Frends jewellery headphones

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

It’s only just dawned on me that headphones have become a fashion thing. Recently I’ve been bombarded with press releases about ‘designer’ headphones, why I don’t know as I have zero interest in them. I guess it taps into the wearable technology trend so maybe I should pay more attention. Continue reading

School by Raimond Wouda

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

My good friend and art partner in crime, Hips Like Boys just alerted me to a great series of photographs that ever so slightly reminded me of Joseph Szabo’s Teenage. In this case, ‘School’ by Raimond Wouda studies the youth culture microcosms of secondary schools in The Netherlands from 2002 to 2007. Continue reading

Eye candy: Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

British Beauty Blogger is reporting on the Spring colours for Clinique’s Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes. The colours and formulations certainly look appealing (not enough people do cream shadows) but I’m most entranced by the campaign photos. How pretty! If they’re actually packaged like this, I think they’ll sell a ton more…

Guest post: Mr DRG on Dehen Varsity jackets

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Mr DRG spends even more time browsing shopping sites than me, so I occasionally ask him to write about his menswear finds. Here’s what he has to say about Dehen jackets…

Well… a home-run scored by Coggles, which is the only UK stockist of Dehen jackets.

As with most things in life, authenticity is key, and when it comes to Varsity (AKA Letterman) jackets, the Oregon brand has it in spades. Continue reading

EXCLUSIVE: Who is the secret Chanel tweeter @CC_Linlithgow?

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

On Tuesday night, coming home from a dinner, I was gripped by the tweets about Chanel’s Metiers d’Art show in Linlithgow, Edinburgh. So many of my Twitter followees were at the show, retweeting tweets from what I assumed was the official Chanel @CC_Linlithgow account. It certainly looked official from what I saw when I logged onto Twitter at home. This ten-day-old Twitter account had aggregated hundreds of Instagrams, Twitpics and nuggets of as-it-happens commentary from the models, press and guests at the show. But as I scrolled through the images, a story unfurled further back to include the entire ten-day build-up to the event, including atmospheric photos of the palace grounds and romantic Linlinthgow scenery. Filippa K ss13 campaign images and a jolly nice jacket

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Filippa K is one of those labels that I see at press days but not really in shops. And as it’s pretty low key I don’t actively seek it out. But I love what I’ve seen for ss13, especially this softer version of an MA1 jacket with rose gold detailing, shown on Julia Stegner (one of my favourite models, look at that swanlike neck!). Buy it now: Posh pyjamas with a twist from Poplin

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

OHHHHHH! How fun are these posh pyjamas with a twist from Poplin? An exclusive collaboration with Avenue32, I loved this story from Avenue32’s Erin Mullaney; “we wanted to create a collectable timeless illustration for the pyjamas that was both festive and stylish. When I was a little girl, we always got to open one present on Christmas Eve and without fail, ‘Santa’ always gave us Christmas pyjamas that we would wear the whole next morning and that would be captured in photos for the rest of time!” Continue reading

Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Linlithgow collection tweets up a storm

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Chanel, Scotland, tartan, kilts, twinsets… what’s not to love in the latest Chanel Métiers d’Art show at Linlithgow Palace in Edinburgh? I’ll admit I have a love-hate relationship with Chanel RTW but this ticked most of my ‘love’ boxes. In particular, Stella Tennant in the ultimate luxe twinset and Edie Campbell in argyle-patterned tights and plaid tam-o-shanter, not to mention Sam Mcknight’s phenomenal Elizabethan hair dos. Library corner: Diane Von Furstenberg And The Tale Of The Empress’s New Clothes

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

My personal highlight of this year’s Vogue Festival (which returns on 28-29 April 2013) was the Diane Von Furstenberg talk. What a woman! What incredible stories! And there’s more where they come from because Camilla Morton has just added Diane Von Furstenberg And The Tale Of The Empress’s New Clothes to her repertoire of modern fashion fairytales. Following on from Christian Lacroix And The Tale Of Sleeping Beauty and Manolo Blahnik’s The Elves And The Shoemaker, Morton has woven her version of The Emperor’s New Clothes into the legend of DVF and the making of her fashion empire.
