Shop report: Couturelab

There has been much talk lately about how the luxury retail landscape is changing and one person who is well ahead of the curve is Carmen Busquets. One of the original investors in Net-a-Porter who also backs other ventures including Moda Operandi, her current baby is Couturelab. Continue reading

Beauty buy: Brush-on sun protection

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Love the idea of BareMinerals’ sun protection in a powder formulation – with an in-built brush. This solves the problem of how to reapply facial sun-pro during the working day, and also doubles as a de-shining device. I’m sold.

Confirmed: Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

It’s true! And here are the details. The Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection launches on 15th November worldwide and online at HM.com. There will be mens and women’s clothing and accessories but whether my beloved L’Incognito shades will be reproduced is unconfirmed. Read all the info here and watch the video below…

Rumoured: Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Twitter is abuzz with the rumours of H&M’s (allegedly) latest collab with Maison Martin Margiela. While I’m loving the idea of cheap-chic versions of Margiela trench coats, Tabi boots and L’Incognito sunnies, these days it’s not just about the product. There’s also the ad campaign, video and surrounding promotional activity to get excited about. So who do we think might be commissioned to work on those and what to expect? I’d love to see an accompanying Sophie Calle video or ad campaign (behind the lens, but why not in front of it as well) or perhaps Kirsten Owen as the face of the campaign. What about you?

I literally can’t keep up with all the amazing books being launched at the moment. Paul Smith’s A-Z is the latest bound-to-be-a-best-seller by the affable one, which is full of his musings on business, technology, design and general way of seeing. Continue reading

Awesome people hanging out together at the Advanced Style London book launch

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Far too much fun was had on Thursday night at the Advanced Style book launch when London’s funnest and finest turned out for Ari Seth Cohen’s party at Mary’s Shop, House of Fraser. I ran around like a crazed photo-blogger taking my piss-poor photos of Virginia Bates, Duggie Fields, Jibby Bean, Bernstock & Speirs’ Thelma Speirs, and the lady on page 28 of Advanced Style.
