H&M autumn magazine

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

The new H&M autumn magazine is out and it includes main contributions from me and a couple of my blog buddies. This issue is its best yet, the layout is much cleaner and I absolutely love this cover of Magdalena, shot by Terry Richardson and styled by George Cortina (yes, that is an H&M outfit, including the lush boots). SECRET TEES: Disneyrollergirl and Harvey Nichols for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Pinch me now! Vogue’s Fashion’s Night out is fast approaching and I’ve managed to wangle a wee project with Harvey Nichols. I’ve rallied some of my favourite fashion creatives to design/print/customise a one-off tee to be showcased at FNO on September 8th, then auctioned on EBay afterwards. I’m especially pleased as all proceeds will go to Kids Company, a charity that I have supported for a while.

The twist is that the identity of each T-shirt’s designer won’t be revealed til the auction finishes. (Although um, it might be quite easy to guess one or two…) The deadline for the finished tees to arrive is fast looming, so watch this space as I’ll be revealing all the names of the designers here…

There are also a zillion things happening in London on Fashion’s Night Out itself, which this year extends from W1 (hello Rupert Sanderson roller disco) to Knightsbridge to Covent Garden. Have you made plans yet?

Save the date: The Museum of Everything arrives at Selfridges

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Selfridges is known for its big themed extravaganzas but for me it has gone off the boil in recent years. I supposed with everyone competing to do super-exciting events all the time, it’s hard to keep that edge. Well whatever, they’ve come up with a great one this time. The Museum of Everything has chosen Selfridges for its fourth exhibition and Selfridges has added a fashiony twist.

From 2nd September to 25th October, James Brett’s Museum of Everything will take over the main and Orchard Street windows and the Ultra Lounge exhibition space of the London flagship store to show over 200 works of ‘outsider art’. The fashion bit? A selection of merchandise sold in The Wonder Room including ‘Project 6′, a capsule collection by Clements Ribeiro and an exclusive shoe collaboration from Tracey Neuls, both incorporating work from the artists.

When I went to the last Museum of Everything (co-curated by Peter Blake) it was jam-packed and an absolute joy to behold. Roll on September 2nd – I can’t wait to see Clements Ribeiro’s shift dress with lips print by Tom Wagener in the flesh…

…and Tracey Neuls lace-ups using Dan Miller’s scribbly text print…

Introducing: Modern Love

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Back in April when I took part in Liberty’s Best of British Open Call, I had no idea what to expect. Sat on a ‘speed buying’ panel with Associate Womenswear Buyer Stephanie Jones, we zipped through dozens of designer hopefuls, so many of whom said it was their dream to be stocked at Liberty. It was quite the eye-opening experience. Continue reading

Dr Martens First & Forever campaign

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Here’s a good example of a branded campaign where everything fits. Dr Martens (whose shoes have really hit their stride in recent seasons) came up with the First And Forever idea, playing on a sense of youthful nostalgia that marries fashion, music, romance and some beautiful imagery.
