Event! Club Monaco for Browns Blogger Style Series

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Next Thursday and Saturday I’ll be returning to my shop girl roots to take part in the Blogger Style Series event with Club Monaco and Browns. Browns was the boutique that every fashion obsessive worshipped when I was growing up in the late 80s – all the major (and minor-but-promising) labels were stocked there. Continue reading

The L.A. diaries part 3

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

My third and final day in L.A. (back in March I hasten to add, I’m back in Blighty now) brought yet more cobalt blue sky and incessant sunshine. And the grand finale of the trip, the filming of the main rollerskating scene for the Lucozade ad. Oh how I wish I could say I was plucked from the watching crowd, ‘wardrobed’ in hotpants and gold quads and given a masterclass in whirling on wheels. Continue reading

Lizzy Disney handbags

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

I really have no business lusting after handbags when I have more bags than I can possibly carry in this lifetime. But Lizzy Disney’s (great name!) envelope bags are worth getting in a tizzy about. I love their slim, angular proportions and rich neutral colour palette – black, camel, red. And each bag is hand made in this lovely leather that will age oh-so-beautifully. Continue reading

THE L.A. DIARIES PART 2

After just one day in L.A. on my Lucozade adventure, I could totally get why the Brits are so taken with it. Cloudless skies on repeat and being driven everywhere – what’s not to love? It was decided to spend the morning at the Getty Centre – a place I had no idea existed. When I think of L.A. I think rollerskating, Hollywood blockbusters and Paris Hilton. Art, architecture and horticulture? Not so much. Continue reading

The L.A. DIARIES Part 1

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

You may have noticed I have a bit of a rollerskating ‘thing’. Not being the sporty type, I can only guess it must hinge on the seductive Californian, 70s imagery that accompanies anything rollergirl/boy related, although there’s also some amazing imagery that goes back beyond the 70s. Continue reading

Guest post: Preppy knows best – Tommy Hilfiger’s global Prep World tour lands in London

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Nothing quite sums up summer for me than the opportunity to ditch the boots and knits for a Bass Weejun and a bare ankle. Preppy fever has hit London with the arrival of Tommy Hilfiger’s pop up beach house, so retail consultant – and author of Bish-Shops blog – ALISON BISHOP (my first ever guest editor!) went to the opening to report… Continue reading

Kurt Geiger at BT2 – my picks

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

I spent last Thursday in Dublin hosting a trend event at BT2, the little sister of Brown Thomas. What a lovely store it is! I was there primarily to talk about Kurt Geiger shoes but managed to have a sneaky mooch around the rest of the store. Continue reading

From the vaults: Rainbow rollergirls

One of my oldest shoots, these pictures* were taken on a freezing November day in an Epping airfield. I don’t remember the exact year, but definitely over ten years ago. We had been invited to submit a shoot for a Japanese exhibition and the photographer had an idea. “I thought we could do nudes.” Continue reading

Oh for a rummage through the archives

Some of my favourite twitpics from the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Met Ball:

Madonna in Stella McCartney. This reminds me of a very similar gown I have by Stella McCartney from her Chloe days, in black with short puff sleeves. The cut is incredible and I think Madonna looks beautiful here Continue reading
