Quentin Jones Chanel animation

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Most fashion films still don’t do it for me but animated films perfectly hit the spot. I like a surprise in a fashion film and the playfulness of Peter Phillip’s make-up animation and Quentin Jones’ exclusive Chanel film for Vogue.co.uk deliver that…

MYWARDROBE’s EVERYDAY LUXURY

Has the fast fashion backlash really begun or is it all media spin? According to a recent article in The Telegraph, consumers are turning their backs on cheap chic and getting to grips with the ‘buy fewer but better’ message. Continue reading

EVENT! Polite reminder

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Wow if having my blog emblazoned on the windows of Browns isn’t a big deal then I don’t know what is. This is just a reminder for anyone gadding about the streets of W1 (or any London postcode actually) tomorrow afternoon to angle themselves in the direction of 24 South Molton Street for some chat, champagne and general zhuzhing-up action with me, Browns and Club Monaco. Laduree opens in Covent Garden

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Is this the chicest china in WC2? Laduree has opened a Covent Garden outpost in the heart of The Piazza with a balcony overlooking the buskers. It joins the newly opened Burberry Brit store (a minute away in King Street) and the soon-to-come Balthazar in the ‘Opera Quarter’, due this autumn. I think I’ll be spending a lot more time in Covent Garden this year… Continue reading

Style Compare STYLE SOS: Tweet me your fashion dilemmas!

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Years before the blogosphere was even a twinkle in Mr Blogspot’s eye, I was a ‘fashion expert’ for an online fashion site. My task was to answer real time fashion queries from readers – everything on what to wear to a prom when you’re 5’2″ and size 20 to where to find Earl jeans (remember them?). My editor used to call me ‘the Mother Teresa for the style-free and stunted’. Tsk.

Actually, I loved it and I’m back in the game every Thursday in June but with a speeded-up, 21st century twist. Style Compare’s Twitter #StyleSOS kicks off on 2nd June at 4pm for one hour. I’ll be guest tweeting from @stylecompare, giving fashion and shopping advice in 140 characters or less. If you’re not on Twitter (why not? it’s fun!), you can ‘tweet’ your questions to me here in advance and check Twitter for the reply on the day. Smartphones on standby…

Coca Cola: The book

coca cola

Just what is it about Coca-Cola that has made it the most iconic drinks brand in the world? Who knows but like so many others, I’m hooked. To celebrate Coke’s 125 year anniversary, there’s a whole load of stuff going on, including a virtual archive, an iPad app and Assouline’s new Coca Cola book. Continue reading

Twitter + Telly: enhancing your experience?

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

I thought my Twitter habit was bad but apparently it’s about to get worse. The Royal Wedding has highlighted the trend for something called ‘two screening’ where people congregate round the telly to watch and tweet a running commentary of the most popular TV programmes. For me it started with Mary Queen of Shops, entertaining on its own but even more fun when reading the tweets of fellow viewers. Continue reading

Watches and Clutches

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Watches and clutches – don’t they we go well together! I don’t know if it’s Tommy Ton’s attention to micro-styling or simply the breadth of choice out there, but I can’t help noticing how many people are coordinating their clutches to their watches. Even Garance is at it… Continue reading
