Scott Schuman is in town!

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

I received a tip-off yesterday from my mole-at-The-Times that Scott Schuman (AKA The Sartorialist) would be staking out the Osman Yousefzada show. I promptly forgot until I found myself haring along Exhibition Road in the fuzzy rain having just sprinted from the Cooperative Designs show a few blocks away. OMG there he was! He graciously let me take a photo although I could see he didn’t really want me to so the result was a tad stony-faced. “How’s it going Scott, are you getting good stuff?” “Yeah, trying to…” was the reply. Oh dear, street photos and London drizzle do not a good combination make. Let’s hope the sun makes an appearance!

Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Not having tickets for Pam Hogg and not wanting to waste time begging fruitlessly to be admitted, we chose instead to catch the last half hour of the Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones press preview. What a treat! The exhibition is beautifully curated so do give yourself plenty of time to soak it all up. The hats are divided into themes and in the middle of the space Stephen Jones has installed a replica of his own mad hatter’s hub, full of fantastical hats, blocks, sketches, feathers and other materials and ephemera. This has to be is my favourite bit. There are videos dotted about, such as ‘Making a hat’ by Deborah Miller as well as a little interactive area for trying on hats – ooh fun! It’s also nice to see newer milliners being given exposure such as my favourite, Soren Bach with his multicoloured fur pompom hat.

Spoiler alert! If you’re planning on visiting the exhibition anytime soon, look away now…

London Fashion Week AW09/10: The Christopher Kane/Ten party

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

We jetissoned the PPQ party tickets when we saw the queue snaking around the block and then some. Instead we headed to Hanover Square for the Christopher Kane do which was much more civilised. Champagne, cocktails and food, this is the kind of party we like. Add to those the cheesy eighties disco remixes – “So tacky… I love it!” as my party pal kept exclaiming – and you have a perfect fashion night out.

What they wore: Chanel handbags, pointy shoes (the guys), denim jackets, Boy London, hats, blazers
